Who are the Perpetrators?

by smash

In the US earlier this week, it came to light that in the 1990s, two different women accused Republican presidential candidate and current front-runner Herman Cain of sexual harassment when he was the head of the National Restaurant Association in 1999.

Herman Cain denies sexually harassing anyone.

Of course, denial is tactic men in power frequently use when accused of using, buying, harassing, and abusing women. Consider the DSK case, the Anthony Wiener case, Silvio Berlusconi, Arnold Schwarzenegger, (he’s got two!), Justice Thomas,  and more. The list of male leaders involved in and denying sex scandals is exceptionally long. In all of these cases, we have examples of men who believe that they should, as a condition of their status as powerful males, be believed- even when they are lying.  All of the above men denied their abusive behavior.

Do women also make public denials?

Women do not make public denials. This is because they are not given, as a condition of their status as women, the privilege of being believed.  Women are not trusted when they report a rape. Women are not trusted to make decisions regarding their health.  Women don’t have the luxury of denial, because no one trusts them anyway.

Why do men get involved in rape/sex scandals? Perhaps they believe that they, as men, are entitled to access women’s space, to receive women’s attention, and to violate women’s bodies. As powerful men, they are used to getting their own way. As this quote by Richard Weiss states,

“This [DSK] scandal again raises questions about why some men in powerful positions often live out a double life one public and one private that involves impulsive and compulsive sexual behavior.”

“Although a sense of strength and fearlessness and a near disregard of consequences can make for great, powerful leaders, problems come when these leaders do not acknowledge that they are human.”

“If their narcissism or egotism isn’t matched by a healthy dose of humility of what it means to be human…and they run on their intellect and don’t attend to their emotions on any level…then they are bound for trouble,” [Robert Weiss] added.

Weiss’ analysis gets several important points very wrong. The first is obvious: reckless, consequence-ignorant behavior is not a quality we want our leaders to have. It is a symptom of Antisocial Personality Disorder. But, moving away from the obvious, the scandal-prone men that Weiss discusses are not suffering from a lack of emotional self-care. Indeed– self-care for them means caring for their own desires at the expense of women. Their “needs” are what caused the abusive behavior in the first place. Finally, Weiss blames those who are “dependent on [powerful men] for employment and security” for not communicating to these men that raping, purchasing, and sexually harassing women is not acceptable behavior. By shifting the blame onto those around the powerful rapist men, Weiss avoids naming the agents of harm– that is, men, and men in power. Men are the reason that men rape, sexually harass, and abuse women.

Where are the female leaders involved in rape/sex scandals?  Women are the victims in these scandals. They are not the perpetrators.

We see a similar pattern in sexual harassment statistics. A poll conducted by Louis Harris and Associates discovered that 31% of female workers claim to have been harassed at work, and 100% of those claims state that their harasser was a male. Men are the majority of people sexually harassing their coworkers. Only 7% of men reported having been sexually harassed at work. What do these statistics tell us about male behavior?

They tell us that men sexually harass women.

We see the same thing evidenced in rape statistics. The National Violence Against Women Survey found that in the US, 1 of every 6 women reports having been raped, as opposed to 1 out of 33 men. Of those rapes, 99% of the rapists are men (1).

This tells us that men rape women.

One of the women involved in the Herman Cain sexual harassment claim wants to come forward now with her side of the story. Her lawyer claims that Mr. Cain has violated the terms of the settlement by publicly discussing the case, and therefore his client should be able to tell her side of the story.  Few details are known of the actual case. Cain claims that his “recollections are hazy”, but a source says that, “that the harassment occurred over months and was not an isolated comment or incident”.

So, Herman Cain. If the claims of sexual harassment are false, why not encourage the complainant tell her side of the story? We’re all very eager to hear it.

Yeah, no shit. I can’t tell you how many men I’ve argued with who try to say that “sexual assault is a human issue, not a gender issue,” and then even have the nerve to accuse me of sexism. Not that men aren’t raped (by other men) and that it isn’t as damaging, but this is so obviously a gender issue, and as an issue of violence against women, that I don’t know how any rational person can deny it.

You hit the nail on the head. Good job!

  2. An attorney who is working with the women in the Cain sexual harassment story said a very interesting thing today.
He said, “in his 40 years as an attorney dealing with cases like these no men ever admitted guilt.” This was a white male attorney. So we know that in every case, the man denies all. That’s the default.

We also know that men feel entitled to women’s bodies, that that is the default just because they are men. Even Mto Trans feel entitled to invade women’s spaces!!! Yikes, it’s always something!!! I know that women are afraid to speak up against this, even when it is being conducted in public. For example, I attend a lot of business networking events. I have seen first hand women getting “unwanted attention” from men, or I hear men make public sexist comments during the public part of the meeting (this doesn’t count privately overheard discussons).
I have been the only woman that calls this behavior out, and I take a great risk in doing it. I risk retaliation, I risk het women siding with the men and turning on me… (happens more than you’d care to imagine). If I call out male bad behavior towards other women, the other women will very likely side with the perpetrator… it has scarily happened to me many times. When i try to defend straight women, I risk backlash. Just saying…

Privately, women come up to me and complain about the behavior, or they say “I just don’t listen” (when sexist comments are being made by these men.) This tells me a lot about het women, and the fact that they DON’T speak up.
I personally witness lesbians who are out often do this. Not always, but often. Het men often get shocked when my partner and I actually counterattack or make a public issue of it.

Male entitled powerbroker CEO/DSK types often believe that they are gods, that they can get away with harassing women. Women are easy prey, they don’t often have the power to fire these pigs, they are often support staff and secretaries, and women seem to “like” the attention. Women often pretend to “like” men flirting or huggling or paying attention to women, or so it appears socially. But men in charge don’t listen to women, women are objects to be used, both in the corporate helpmeet roles they are in most of the time, and as sexual objects.

In Japan, they have pretty women in the office as “office flowers.”

But… and here is the but…. when you are running for president, it can be a game changer. Now at least we have legions of male reporters wanting a story. Males will turn on other males to knock the front runner down.
Brave women will come forward, the first woman automatically gets written off, but then two or three more speak up… then the pack of male reporters starts to get excited. “Hey we can bring the front runner down, it’ll be a big story on a slow news day…” Women are in powerful positions in the media. In JFK’s day, there were no women anchors, and the entire press corp was male… so boys will be boys, and the pack of penis pigs just let old JFK have his fun.

The game changed with brave Anita Hill. The game changed when Catherine MacKinnon created the concept of hostile work environment and sexual harassment law.

But still, the boys haven’t learned that some games have been at least altered, or that there is enough data out there to prove the guys deny 100% of the time. Male attorneys will report this.

But like Sharia law, you need three to four women to equal the testimony of one man in America…testimony coming from the ancient Jewish practice of men putting their hands on their testicles and pray in thanks to god that they were not born women. Testi…mony…

Powerful men know that the only truth they have to tell is when they are sworn in by a grand jury… Bill Clinton got nailed because of purjury, for example. Men know that any public statement they make is ok, that lying is perfectly ok, and that 100% of the time they deny that they ever rape, sexually grope, harass or do anything bad to women. They know that the only thing that can trip them up is the presidential race, or a jury trial.

The boys are slow to learn. Hey, Mr. Cain probably never thought of running for president in 1999, when he was the head of the restaurant association. CEOs usually lead private lives, and can harass all the women they want to.
But an election is a game changer… it means your whole life will be unraveled for public display, and the 24hour news cycle can destroy anyone. They’re not used to this. No man is safe now.

But no matter how much we can say that 99% of the time, it is male on female harassment, you’re still going to have “liberal” feminists say “but women are bad tooooo” “but I know a lesbian couple where one abused the other….” Carol Christ the supposed big name feminist just said this recently.

To have the courage to NAME THE AGENT as FCM wrote about in another post is hard, even for feminists.

Men are the cause of this. Risky behavior is not a leadership quality. Male inflated egos are NOT GOOD BUSINESSMEN… and men lie every time about being sexual harassers until they are corned by brave women, nailed with secret disclosure agreements, and when women stop siding with them.

Eventually if all the males know they will NEVER be president if they ever harass a woman, maybe harssment will come to an end or really become rare… (looking out the window and thinking fer sure I’m gonna see a pig fly by any minute now) !!! Hey, I’m looking out right now…. any minute now…. did I hear an oink?

  3. Boadie… so right you are. It is SO a gender issue! But it is threatening to say MEN do this! It is a male problem… men rape men, men rape women. Rarely if ever do women do this to men or other women! So wy the statistical exceptionalism? Because as long as we hide behind the “human” shield, we won’t be… sing along with me NAME THE AGENT! Men depend on the smokescreen of “human” to get sexual access to women, so they can keep raping and harassing and groping women forever… if we say MEN are evil, and MEN do this, then the game changes. If women get a little power or a little agency, we create sexual harassment law… like Tina Tottenberg we break the story… women rat out men in radfemland.

A little off topic but interesting… a professor of statistics at UCLA (lesbian btw) did a lesbian health survey. We had stats on a power point presentation :-) comparing hets to lesbian women. Alcohoism was off the charts with dykes compared to het women. Why? Because het women don’t go to bars as much, and lesbians drink more because they feel safe in a lesbian bar. A drunk het woman faces rape…..because men are in the bar she goes to and guess what … repeat with me MEN RAPE WOMEN! Lesbians don’t rape other women. MEN RAPE WOMEN! It is SOOO a gender issue!

Men sexually harass women. PERIOD. FACT. CHECKED, STUDIED, REPORTED, NOTED!! And yet, “it’s a human problem, a human rights issue.” Only radfems are putting the blame and pointing the searchlight on the perps…MEN RAPE! MEN DENY all, men do this. It is very scary to women to say this, men just won’t admit that they and they alone are the evil pigs who terrorize and abuse women this way. It’s why men a scared to death of rape if they end up in jail…because MEN RAPE!

So when we can get everyone to yell this from the roof tops, maybe some action will happen. Maybe men who really are innocent or who never do this will get angry at the jerks making ALL MEN LOOK BAD. Maybe men will stop other men from doing this. Hey, I looked out the window again, still waiting for a pig to fly by (a real pig, not a human male BTW…. sorry pigs).

  4. “Weiss’ analysis gets several important points very wrong. The first is obvious: reckless, consequence-ignorant behavior is not a quality we want our leaders to have. It is a symptom of Antisocial Personality Disorder. ”

Haha! That’s so true. ANy personality traits men have are deemed as “good”, no matter the circumstances, and vice versa for women. While we’re on the subject, someone else with a major personality disorder is GOD: wanting to be obeyed and worshipped, metting out punishment, but ignoring suffering when it suits him. He’s like the ultimate male projection!

  5. The ultimate male projection…god…. cherryblossom you are so right on with that.
Abuse of power results in reckless consequence-ignorant behavior, and that is not leadership, that is males behaving badly. Because men do this, it is thought “good” or “powerful”… so what would be thought horrifying if women did it, is considered good behavior in men. That should tell us something.

I think the radfem message of MEN ARE THE AGENTS and MEN rape and MEN harass sexually is the message we really need to get out there. A lot of women a very reluctant to name the agent, and a lot of men want to say it’s not their problem because they are good and don’t do it.

Everything that say about the nature of “power” or “leadership” has brought the world to the brink of destruction, the sexual attacks on women are just an extension of this.

  6. I love– but mostly loathe– how liberal dudes are feigning concern for the women involved. Women are clearly just a means to a political end. I believe Andrea Dworkin had some wise cautionary words for women involved in politics. And once the media circus is over, do you really think the male– and even female– pundits and other power players in this misogynistic and racist farce we call a “democracy” will lift a finger to ensure that no woman or girl is the victim of predatory male sexuality in all spheres of society? Yeah, no. What, too cynical for a twenty-something year old?

  7. News happens fast- the accuser’s lawyer is allowed to make a statement. http://www.nydailynews.com/news/politics/herman-cain-accuser-lawyer-accuses-series-sexual-harassment-article-1.972414

“Bennett said his client had documented “a series of inappropriate behaviors and unwanted advances” while working for Cain.

He also called into question Cain’s contention that he’d forgotten about the cases until they came to light early this week.

“Mr. Cain knows the specific incidents that were alleged. My client filed a written complaint in 1999 against him specifically, and it had very specific incidents in it. And if he chooses to not remember or not acknowledge those, that’s his issue,” Bennett said.

  8. 1999 was when the settlement occured. Coincidence that Cain’s economic plan is/was called 9-9-9?.

Would not surprise me if he did this with purpose to relive his sexual harrassment fuckishness every day. After this story broke, his donations went UP. He was at a Koch brothers event speaking today and the crowd of MRA Teabagger pukes were so boisterous with affirmation it really made you physically ill.

He is not going to be the nominee, so why this?

  9. Mocha… I’d call that wisdom not cynicism! 9-9-9 — guess there’s more to it than Michele Bachman’s 6-6-6.

I’m trying to get women everywhere to name preditory male behavior as an almost exclusively MALE behavior and that’s like pulling teeth outside radfemland. It seems that liberal feminists are all about “but women are bad too” school of understanding.

So this message needs to be loud and clear MEN, it’s about the MEN, it’s a male problem, and it won’t be cut down significantly unless WOMEN accuse the accusors and say this is a MALE problem, and it won’t slow down until the supposed “GOOD MEN” out there get outraged at how the bad guys are ruining their reputation. Heck, there’s even a blog called “The Good Men” project if you can believe it. I wonder what they’re doing about this.

And women have every right to demand of EVERY MALE they meet: “What makes you think I can trust you? How do I know you aren’t a rapist, sexual groper or worse? Prove it!”

  10. Thanks SheilaG…

“And women have every right to demand of EVERY MALE they meet: ‘What makes you think I can trust you? How do I know you aren’t a rapist, sexual groper or worse? Prove it!'”

We should do that, it’s for our own safety, survival and it’s time that the onus is shifted onto males– the beneficiaries and perpetrators of misogynistic oppression. Awe, but then we’re the *”damaged” woman, the psycho-chick with “daddy issues”, ergo, we’re biased, histrionic, and “don’t know” what we’re talking about. So our opinions are immaterial, as they’re frought with “unjust misandry” and untreated “mental issues”. How interesting that women must first pass some male-concocted sociopsychological litmus test in order for men to even [pretend] to listen to them. And of course, the litmus test is a charade, because even if a woman “passes” men will still flunk her.

*”Damaged” is just a euphemism for a woman who can’t be bullshitted by male hubris.

  11. Mocha you are on a f—ing roll these days. “Damaged” “crazy”– I’ve heard actual guys say this about ex-wives and girlfriends. I’ve also heard the second wife say the first wife was “really crazy” or a “psycho” — now logically speaking I don’t expect a second wife to belittle her new husband or even in a fairly new marriage. They LUUUUVVV the guy, and he’s well looking good. Ok, but this is so obviously an out of control male problem… how many famous men in the past year and a half have been nailed with sexual harassment, rape attempts, groping, infidelity charges? Let’s see…. Schwartzenneger, Spitzer, John Edwards, Herman Cain, Antonio Viaregosso… DSK can’t forget that creep… was Al Gore charged with something… the wooden Apollo I think was accused of wanting “sexual favors” from a massage therapist in a hotel….Did Tipper and Al divorce recently? I can’t even keep track of these famous guys behaving badly there are SO MANY of them, it is an epidemic of male bad behavior… and one of these guys actually wanted to be the next French Presidente —- oh who was the Israeli leader who actually got charged with sexual harassment in a real male court…. got that dude… (and these last few lines I just added as I was proofing my earlier comments….eeek)

If there was any group that was massively guilty of something…. say Germany during the NAZI era, do they ever blame the gypsies…. hey, they asked for it, the Jews, hey they asked for it, Jews are crazy, so they asked for it and Germans got mad…. have you ever heard “Oh those damn Spanish they asked for that bombing of Guernica!!” They led those bombers on….
But men attacking, groping, sexing, inappropriately talking to…. nope, that’s not a male problem that’s a human problem right? Nope, it was a Jewish / German problem that NAZIS took over. Nope it was Ethiopians asking for the Italians to invade in 1936.

Nope it’s just plain male bashing to call the culprits on the carpet or to point to the surveys saying that 99.999% of rapists are men raping women and other men. Nope it’s male bashing to say that almost all the lawsuits for sexual harassment or inappropriate sexual talks in offices, in professor’s offices, at the Rotary Club, at therapists therapy sessions…. all of it is male bashing.

Seems that every time women point out these little “male problems” they are called male haters and bashers. But are Jews called NAZI bashers, or NAZI haters? Are Jews called German haters for errecting holocaust memorials worldwide?
Hey, why can’t they get over their issues and move on?

Guess Poland had a German paranoia in 1939…. But you see, if women woke up, if women saw who the molestors and sexers and harassers really were all the time, and said so, that would name the agent. If so-called good men didn’t get outraged, they’d be blamed for their silence and vilified 24/7 on FOX news, Anderson Cooper and 60 Minutes combined.
Male silence while the Jews (I mean women) were being attacked and harassed would be a crime against humanity.

Why were the good Germans silent? Yeah, a whole generation of Germans are vilified in history for being silent and for not speaking up to save Jews. So why isn’t the situation of male preditors and pervs going after women 24/7 not subject to the same standard of holding ALL MEN ACCOUNTABLE! Because it is a male crime pattern against women by such staggeringly huge statistical margins that’s why. And women live with, eat with, sleep with and birth…. well boys and men. There is no country of women to go to for asylum, so therefore we are surrounded by the enemy just like Berlin was before the Wall fell. Iche bin Ein Berliner!

  12. the ability to deny is absolutely rooted in male privilege, and this is such an important point! men challenge other men to “prove it” and they lie, lie, lie and hope theres not enough evidence to convict. and since sexual and violent crimes against women are normally committed in private, often there is no evidence beyond the womans word. which is worthless, based on mens male-centric system they have created to benefit themselves wherein “a mans word is his bond” even when they are known to lie, and women arent men. so we are presumed to be lying even when we tell the truth.

do all the men who have actually raped come out and admit what they have done, ever? how many actual rapists lie then? ALL OF THEM. yes? now, compare that to how many women probably lie about having been raped. (and im talking about lying when it matters: when its being reported to the cops. of course men brag about rape to other men, and many men know men who have admittedly raped women.) but unless every single woman making a rape accusation lied, we are doing better than the men arent we? and yet we still arent credible, on this issue perhaps more than any other. in the exact situation where 100% of actual rapists are going to lie, and less than 100% of accusers are, we are the ones who are presumed to be lying, not them.

which means that credibility shouldnt be the issue it is, in rape and other sex-related cases. but for some reason, it is.

saying “but thats just how our legal system works” is a dodge, obviously. it works this way because it benefits men. they made sure that it would, that was the whole point.

  13. yes, EVERY rapist lies. But courts don’t believe this. They think rapists tell the truth and women lie about rape.

  14. I’ve been following the Cain’s shenanigan’s somewhat closely. It takes so much courage to actually take action against a perp, nevermind legal action. So, it’s virtually certain that Cain has sexually harassed many more women than the very brave women who took action and/or are coming forward now.

As other posters pointed out, there are just so many men in politics who are charged with sexual harassment/paid rape/rape/etc etc etc. Again, the men listed in the above posts are only men who have been outed for their behavior. Why would men in politics be sooooo different from other men? I’d say they’re rather representative.

  15. Fine, fine post, smash — it’s a simple truth that men rape, but because of just how very simple that truth is (and impossible to spin) and how very badly men want to hide it (because they can’t spin it), we have to keep shouting that truth from the rooftops. This says it all (without the maybe):
Why do men get involved in rape/sex scandals? Perhaps they believe that they, as men, are entitled to access women’s space, to receive women’s attention, and to violate women’s bodies. As powerful men, they are used to getting their own way.

Nine Deuce had an excellent post along the same lines some months ago:
There is more than one dick implicated in the Weiner scandal

  16. didn’t know where else to put this, so excuse my off-topic post, but is anyone aware that the facebook page for the hub is GONE!? anyone know what is going on?

  17. In Dworkins “Heatbreak” there is a chapter ‘It takes a villiage’.

“It happens so often that I, at least, cannot keep track of it. A woman is only believed in and when other women come forward to say the man or men raped them, too.”

  18. “in and when” should read “if and when”

  19. the ability to deny is absolutely rooted in male privilege, and this is such an important point! men challenge other men to “prove it” and they lie, lie, lie and hope theres not enough evidence to convict. and since sexual and violent crimes against women are normally committed in private, often there is no evidence beyond the womans word. which is worthless, based on mens male-centric system they have created to benefit themselves wherein “a mans word is his bond” even when they are known to lie, and women arent men. so we are presumed to be lying even when we tell the truth.

I agree that privilege and entitlement is crucial. Men lie because they know they can get away with it, because they it’s their basic prerogative as men to rape women, to stick their dicks in women’s vaginas. They don’t even see the problem, since women’s bodies and vaginas belong to men in patriarchy, it’s not like they can steal what’s already their property. Rape has always only meant (in patriarchy) stealth of another man’s private property. As long as men are entitled to women’s bodies, women’s affirmation of bodily integrity will be a breach of patriarchal law. Any women today who accuses a rapist will be treated by all (Justice, police, media, politicians) as the criminal who is to be judged and sentenced, and the rapist, as the victim.

yes, EVERY rapist lies. But courts don’t believe this. They think rapists tell the truth and women lie about rape.

I think courts don’t even care whether the women is lying or not, and they in fact probably know that she has been raped, because that’s what they do themselves to women all the time, that’s what pornography tells them to do every day, and the case they’re hearing in court is probably just like one of the scenarios they saw yesterday in the last porn movie they watched. I wouldn’t think they’re so naive about it. They just don’t want to lose their entitlement to rape women. The men in courts are in complete solidarity to rapists, it is in their interest as men to defend the right of all men to rape women. No matter how many laws will be designed to prevent rape, at all the stages of justice everywhere men will try to protect at all costs their right to fuck women. They will identify to the rapist and defend his interests.

  20. Also it’s not just that they refuse to listen to women, they do everything in their power to destroy the women, to shut her up, reverse the responsibility of the rape, shame her, insult her, tell her she’s a slut, she’s crazy, stupid, and make sure she will never cry rape again. They know damn well what they’re doing, they see a big threat to their entitlement so they retaliate as violently as they can. It’s patriarchal repression.

  21. Yes excellent. It’s deliberate, and deliberately supportive of male power, and protects powerful men and all men who are doing the same criminal things, used to do them, or hope or plan to do them in the future, or who are afraid they might slip up and give into the urge one day. None of them want to be accountable for what they themselves do to girls and women, and they make sure they never will be.

  22. I am not sure why women are afraid to make statements like this:

“Women do not make public denials. This is because they are not given, as a condition of their status as women, the privilege of being believed.”

When I make these kind of observations, which seem more than obvious to me, I am generally challenged, sometimes even (gently) reprimanded — even on feminist forums. It is refreshing to see a community that is not afraid of saying the truth.

If women must endure the truth, why are men too frail to even hear the truth?

    Thanks for your honesty.

  23. Thanks for this post, smash,a very good one.

Well,in Holland there was one Lubbers he was an UN High Commissioner for Refugees i believe,he got away with that.

Powerful, rich men always got away with that and the poor women bite the dust. Here in Holland i see that all the time

When i was 13 i was attacked by a man,i tried to tell the police but they wouldn’t believe me,they believe that rapist over me, a girl.I was so angry about that.So i will never ever trust any man,i don’t trust my brothers either.

And when i read the news about those powerfull and rich men? It makes me so angry, really.

  24. Thanks Smash for saying it loud and clear – men are the ones committing sexual violence against women; men are the ones raping women but remember we women must never ever name the sex of the perpetrator(s) instead it is apparently ‘gender violence’ which is inflicted on women. Or ‘gender violence’ is the real issue – really? Does this mean gender is a human being who is committing said violence against women and girls or is this word another euphemism men coined to ensure their accountability must never ever be made public and men must never ever be shamed for their crimes against women.

As regards Herman Cain, DSK, Roman Polanski and innumerable other men what they have in common is their pseudo belief men have the right of sexual access to any female irrespective of her age, any time, any where and woe betide any woman or girl who dares to charge a male with rape and/or sexual violence because she not the male perpetrator will be the one prosecuted and shamed. That is male supremacy in action but too many women prefer to be like the three wise monkeys – hear no evil, see no evil speak no evil – meaning male violence and male contempt for women doesn’t exist does it?

  25. Yes, Hecuba. :)

But, unlike the wise monkeys, we DO hear evil and we DO see evil and we DO speak of it and because of it more and more women do/will come to re-member that men’s violence and contempt DOES exist.

  26. @Sargasso Sea

That is the coolest gravatar I have ever seen …

  27. If women must endure the truth, why are men too frail to even hear the truth?

I would buy a car just to put this bumper sticker on it.

  28. Oh, smash… the comments over there… nooo…. do I wade in, or not? Grrrrr…

  29. There is no “like” button big enough for all the comments in this thread. So glad Sheila mentioned the Nazis! With the exception of patriarchy, the ultimate exercise in denial really is Nazi Germany — and it should be note-worthy (but isn’t) that the german neighbors of the burning camps had to be literally forced at the point of a bayonet by soldiers, before they would walk past the piles of dead bodies and acknowledge reality.

But in the cult of patriarchy from which there is no geographical escape, both abuser and victim are trauma-bonded to each other, while the systematic destruction of a billion souls occurs without the visible remnants of dead bodies to act as indisputable evidence. And we can’t literally point a gun at the them until they open their fucking eyes. So we have a far more difficult psychological dynamic than what occurred in Nazi Germany.

I have spent a HUGE amount of time trying to figure out what mechanism could possibly break through the funfem’s wall of denial **on a large, efficient scale**, and so far I’m still mostly clueless. But I suspect that shouting louder only makes them withdraw into defensiveness and even more denial. I’ve had much better luck using the techniques which Bob Almeyer advocates using — for lizard brained zombiefied republicans.

  30. Oh, and of course thanks to Smash for the great post, can’t believe I left that out!

  31. Thanks to all for your awesome comments. It is truly amazing to see how scrutinized the victims are when they come forward, and how nearly immune the harassers/rapists/johns are. *Naming* the perpetrators is so very important. We all know it’s true that men rape, sexually harass, abuse, and buy women, because the facts speak for themselves.

  32. but but but MALE EXCEPTIONALISM ARGUMENT!!!!!11!1!1234 INSERT STRAWMAN HERE!!! blah blah blah, you radfems hate men, this is obvious because you wont lie for or about men like everyone else does! no fairrrr you arent playing right!!!

haha jk. thanks for posting this news item smash. looking foward to your next post.

  33. So happy to have found this blog, so please forgive my late comments. It really encouraged me when Ginger White came forward with the c-phone texts corroborating her disclosure of Cain’s adultery (and the money he’d given her that he never told his wife about). Ginger White, certainly not known personally to me, nonetheless seemed very credible in stating what amounted to solidarity with the women being discredited on their sexual harassment claims. Ms. White definitely found her reputation trashed in the media for coming forward about an adulterous affair, but it got this appalling narcissist (Cain) out of the presidential race.

President Obama’s handlers seem to have relegated the intelligent First Lady to minor-league roles lesser than those First Lady Clinton occupied before becoming Secretary of State when she should have been nominated for President. But at least President Obama — global corporate allegiance though he has (as do all major world politicians in today’s patriarchy) — does not seem to hate women. Maybe it’s because he has daughters, maybe it’s because he’s married to an amazing woman. But I pray no closet misogynist wins election to or placement in the highest office of any country in these bizarre porn-culture and media-influenced times.

What really saddened me about the Cain reportage online was that Cain’s wife put up a website at which people (women, too) claimed to be in solidarity with her for standing by Cain as her man. But then, I’m largely apolitical, follow these stories only in part and for all I know, she is still raising their children, doesn’t have workplace skills of her own and has internalized the forgiveness brainwashing of man-stream Christianity, believing it her Christian duty to back him up no matter what. At least he’s no longer in the running for major office. But then women globally in the main have only the right to vote for men. (And some of them are better than others. Maybe it’s their genes or hormones, but for small favors until greater evolution occurs, I’m grateful.)
